The parcel is bordered by BLM Land on one side, and has an access road directly to it. The parcel maintains privacy and seclusion, but is located within a few miles of the freeway, small ranches, and a small but growing rural development. The area is considered high desert with an elevation of 5650 ft., and consists of low rolling hills and bluffs with tall sage. Deer, Elk and Antelope are abundant in winter and spring, while smaller creatures can be found the remaining part of the year. Near the northwest corner of the property lies what is most likely an ephemeral creek in late winter and early spring. Green vegetation and wildflowers appear in the spring.
LOCAL AREA: The property is located approximately 30 miles from the center of Elko. Elko is the County seat with a population of approximately 17,000 and is a growing, progressive city with a great quality of life and very little Crime. Elko was voted into the Top 100 Best Places to Live by Money Magazine in 2007 and is listed in U.S. News as one of the Best Places to Retire.
This area of Elko County has a rich history and is basically cowboy country with many of the ranches having been in their respective families for generations. The Ruby Mountains (often referred to as Nevadas Alps), are a vast recreational area. They are home to numerous types of wildlife including Mule Deer, Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, Antelope, Badgers, Coyotes, Mountain Lions, Elk, Mountain Goats, and many smaller creatures. There are also numerous creeks and rivers in the area, as well as the beautiful Lamoille Valley. A trip thru the Lamoille Valley in the Fall boasts some of the most awesome views you will ever encounter! Besides hunting and fishing, other nearby activities include heli-skiing in the winter and hiking and exploring in spring and summer. Directions to the Land
|
From Elko take Interstate 80 East. Go about 25 miles to River Ranch Exit #328. Go left at the stop sign and follow the road around until you come to a group of mailboxes on your right. Directly after the mailboxes, there is a road to the right. Take this road (not left or straight which is also an option at this juncture). Go .6 mile to the 3rd dirt road on your left and turn there. Go 3 miles until you come to the top of a hill. Just beyond this hill (.1 mile) there is a road to the left. This is at GPS coordinate 41-4-53.65 N and 115-22-20.16 W. Take this road and go .5 miles to a large windmill on your right along a fence line. The fence has a closed gate. Go through this gate and reclose the gate after passing thru. About 200 yards from the gate, theres an old washout. (This spot cannot be driven thru with a low clearance car you will need a vehicle with pretty high clearance or 4WD) From the Gate, Go 1.1 miles to a bush on the left with a stake and a milk jug on top of it. Park here and walk South 660 feet (over an easement) to the marker post for the northwest corner of the property (a white stake). This is at coordinate 41-4-45.3 N and 115-24-38.2 W with a BLM Marker labeled 4 - S22 and S23. The southwest corner post is another 660 feet south at 41-4-37.5 N and 115-24-37.4 W. If you want to drive all the way to the property, take the jeep trail on the left before you get to the bush with the post and milk jug and drive for about .2 mile to the property.
